Daily Mail has reported that the Bianconeri will carry out a clean-up in the summer’s transfer window to get rid of aged players who occupy a sizeable portion of the wage in Turin. Having said that, Miralem Pjanic, Douglas Costa, Gonzalo Higuain and one of Sami Khedira or Blaise Matuidi would have to find a new club going into the upcoming period.
Miralem Pjanic already seems to have found himself a new home in Barcelona, but the Bosnian’s official move is only being hindered by a missing agreement between the Blaugrana and the Old Lady of Turin. While Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain remain options too, the ex-Roma man seems hellbent on moving to the Camp Nou.
Douglas Costa also seems to be on the radar of some clubs and Manchester United are believed to be in the driving seat with regard to the former Bayern Munich winger’s signing. Why the Brazilian is being sold is questioned by many, but nonetheless it’s a good decision given that his contract will be done and dusted in two years, when Costa is 31 and possibly beyond his best.
Gonzalo Higuain and Sami Khedira are the other two who are more likely than not to depart. The former Real Madrid duo has not yet received many offers, but finding clubs wouldn’t be difficult for two very experienced players. Maurizio Sarri may not be in favour of selling the former who he values greatly, but Juve may disregard their manager’s choice and rightly so.
Blaise Matuidi is another player who may be shipped out of the Serie A club, but the chances of the World Cup winner being shown the door are unlikely. The France international has recently renewed his contract at Turin and has more to offer in his cylinders than Khedira. Regardless, some other players are being overlooked by Agnelli and his directorial partners.
Central defender Daniele Rugani for that matter is one of those players who has been playing horribly whenever given the chance and must be sold as well. Mattia de Sciglio has been another one of Juventus’ poor performers and honestly, the less said about him the better. While ridding aged players is a good move, younger ones who have not played well should be shown the door as well.
Which all players must be sold by the Italian champions during the summer?
