Juventus could sign another great Premier League free agent

Juventus could steal away Willian for free to upgrade their attack.

In the summer 2020 transfer window, Juventus will have their eyes on several star midfielders, including Manchester United’s Paul Pogba. A Pogba reunion would help Juve out the most, but they’d also love to land two rising stars at the position in Arthur Melo and Sandro Tonali as much-needed upgrades.

More from Old Juve

However, Pogba isn’t the only Premier League target on Juve’s radar, as Chelsea’s Jorginho would provide a different type of reunion for former Napoli and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

Beyond the midfield positions, the Bianconeri are monitoring Emerson at Chelsea at the left back position and now reportedly have interest in Willian.

Per a report from Sport Mediaset, via Football-Italia.net, the Old Lady of Turin are ready to make a swoop for Willian if Chelsea do not re-sign him and he becomes a free agent.

Last summer, Juve signed two free agent center midfielders in Adrien Rabiot from PSG and Aaron Ramsey from Arsenal.

While neither player was able to make their mark – and either could be a part of a swap deal for Pogba – they could still pay off as free signings.

Willian is better than both of them. The Bianconeri don’t need a wide forward and are more focused on striker replacements for Gonzalo Higuain, such as Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli, Willian would be a wonderful free signing.

One of the most underrated players in the Premier League, Willian had another standout season for Chelsea in 2019-2020, stepping out of Eden Hazard’s shadow after the latter made a 100 million euro move to Real Madrid.

While Willian has also been linked with a move to FC Barcelona over the past several months, La Blaugrana seem to be looking elsewhere, such as Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez. For the Bianconeri, Willian could even be a replacement for Douglas Costa, since he could be used to help bring Pogba back to Turin.
