Cristiano Ronaldo is 35 and won’t be around at Juventus for much longer.

Juventus will be in the transfer market this summer as they look to refurbish an ageing squad. Maurizio Sarri already got rid of the likes of Emre Can and Mario Mandzukic, whereas Miralem Pjanic also seems to be having a foot and a half outside of Torino. With that said, Gonzalo Higuain could also be shown the door to bring in younger players.

More from Old Juve

Lautaro Martinez was identified as a target by the Old Lady of Turin just a few days ago and the Argentine’s club teammate and current Paris Saint-Germain loanee, Mauro Icardi, has also been linked with a transfer to the Allianz Stadium, AS has reported. The striker is wanted by several teams and it is imperative that the Bianconeri act quickly.

Mauro Icardi has been brilliant for Paris Saint-Germain this season and scored some crucial goals as the premature end to the Ligue 1 campaign saw fit to crown them champions. Numerically speaking, the frontman scored 20 goals and provided four assists to his teammates and also pushed Edinson Cavani to being second choice within a few months.

Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are in negotiations over a permanent transfer for the forward who is no more in Antonio Conte’s plan. While initially everything was expected to go through smoothly, Wanda Nara’s comments about her husband and client wanting to return to Italy caused a stir and the French giants are rethinking a permanent deal.

Inter Milan have demanded 60 million euros for the Argentinian ace whereas PSG have currently put 50 million on the table, as yet. The Nerazzurri seem to be hellbent over their demands and that’s where Juventus could have the edge and all the more so, since they could help Icardi stay in Italy for the longer run.

The 27-year-old is an incredible striker and much more than 60 million euros, so Juve could be in for a bargain if they sign the Rosario-born player. His age provides for long-term optimism while there can’t be enough grace done by talk about his statistics and sensational positioning, which makes him a one-of-a-kind striker.

While initially Icardi would be a replacement to Higuain, he could be Cristiano Ronaldo’s successor in the longer run too considering the similarity of off-the-ball movement between the duo. As such, he was wanted by Real Madrid too to replace their all-time goal scorer and interest from the world’s greatest club does enough justice to Icardi’s quality.
