Juventus will probably need to sign a star striker this summer.

Although Juventus have two of Serie A’s best forwards in Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala, who combined to score 28 goals in 2019-2020, the Bianconeri could use another star striker in the summer 2020 transfer window.

With one year left on his contract, Gonzalo Higuain may leave to MLS or River Plate to be closer to his mother, who is severely ill.

Higuain has scored five goals with four assists in the 2019-2020 Serie A campaign, but at 32, Juve have to think about his replacement anyway.

PSG star Mauro Icardi was excellent this past season in Ligue 1 and is one of the world’s best strikers.

He will be one of the Bianconeri’s top targets, though PSG will likely try to sign him permanently from Juve’s rivals Inter Milan.

According to a report from RAI, via Forza Juventus on Twitter, the Bianconeri have identified Duvan Zapata and Arkadiusz Milik as two backup options in Serie A if they cannot sign Icardi from the Nerazzurri.

Zapata and Milik are also established as two of the best strikers in Italy. Milik has been consistently identified as a potential target for Juve, and he was arguably Napoli’s best player this past season. When he gets going, he is difficult to stop. The Poland international is exceptionally athletic and could be a solid fit in Turin.

Meanwhile, Zapata is a little older at 29, but he has been a star for Atalanta. Zapata is coming off another strong season, finishing among the top 10 goal-scorers in Italy’s top flight with 11 goals. He also added five assists before the season stopped, with an impressive 1.3 key passes to boot, per WhoScored.com.

Between the two of them, Milik is the better player and the more likely target for the Old Lady if Icardi isn’t achievable. However, Zapata would be cheaper and more well-rounded, potentially making him the easier replacement option for Higuain.
