Juventus striker Gonzalo Higuain is out with an injury.

Gonzalo Higuain’s future with Juventus after the 2019-2020 season is up in the air. The experienced striker has one year left on his contract and could be ready to spend the twilight of his career in MLS or with River Plate.

More from Old Juve

For now, though, Higuain is a part of the Old Lady and will play a key role in the Serie A title race, which is a tight one involving Lazio and Inter in second and third, respectively.

Next week on Friday, Juve will play another traditional power in Italian football, albeit in a different competition. The Bianconeri are still in the Coppa Italia and will face Milan in the second leg of their semifinals tie next Friday on June 12.

However, La Gazzetta dello Sport reports, via Football Italia, that Higuain will not be able to play at the Allianz Stadium for the return leg. Juve drew with Milan 1-1 at the San Siro.

Higuain is reportedly dealing with a muscular issue. It shouldn’t require him to miss too much time, but Juve will have to adjust their gameplan accordingly against Milan, who are a dangerous team to face in this competition.

That said, the Old Lady are fully expected to win and move on to the finals. They are the tournament favorites and stand a great chance of winning the domestic tournament. Still in first place in Serie A and liking their chances in the Champions League with Liverpool knocked out and Real Madrid losing their tie, a treble is a possibility for Juve.

Hopefully, Higuain is able to recover soon from his injury, as muscular issues can be tricky for players who’ve been playing for a while. At 32, the 2019-2020 season could be Higuain’s last chance at picking up silverware in European football, but he has a good chance at winning multiple trophies.
