Juventus could acquire Marco Verratti this summer.

There is no bigger priority for Juventus in the 2020 summer transfer window than upgrading the midfield, but the Bianconeri will have to swap away some of their older midfielders who don’t fit Maurizio Sarri’s goals as well.

More from Old Juve

Adrien Rabiot is atop that list and could move to a Premier League side like Everton or Arsenal, while Miralem Pjanic is the midfielder in the highest demand.

Chelsea, Barcelona, and PSG are all possible options for Pjanic, but the player seems to only be interested in Barcelona.

As such, Juve have spent most of their time negotiating with La Blaugrana, but negotiations have not been fruitful, leading to the Old Lady placing a deadline on talks with the Catalan club.

However, if Pjanic is willing to join another team, a dream swap deal could materialize if PSG replace Thomas Tuchel with former Juve manager Max Allegri.

If Tuchel’s relationship with Kylian Mbappe is indeed fractured and PSG are desperate to both win the Champions League and appease Mbappe to ward off Real Madrid’s interest, then Allegri could replace the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

According to a report from Tuttosport, via Football-Italia.net, if Allegri becomes PSG’s next manager, he would want to work with Pjanic as his deep-lying playmaker in Paris.

He would then be willing to trade Marco Verratti, whose been close to leaving Ligue 1 before, in order to acquire Pjanic from the Old Lady.

Pjanic is a great player, but Verratti is even better at keeping things ticking in midfield and offers far more defensively. It’s hard seeing PSG approving of this deal, but if Allegri has his demands, a midfield swap probably means little to the club’s power hierarchy. They are more concerned with how the big stars in the attack, specifically centerpiece players Mbappe and Neymar, fare out.

A few things have to happen before this sensational swap deal can even lead to real talks between both sides, but it’s an interesting idea to keep an eye on. And it would be interesting to see Allegri coach the superteam in Paris.
