Here’s a look at who Juventus could start against Genoa in their next match.

On Tuesday, Juventus will travel to the Stadio Luigi Ferraris to take on Genoa, who are another potential relegation side in Serie A. This past Friday, the Bianconeri defeated Lecce with ease at the Allianz Stadium by a score of four to zero, with Douglas Costa playing a starring role off the bench.

While Mattia De Sciglio and Alex Sandro are still out with injuries, left back shouldn’t be a major issue with Danilo returning from suspension. Let’s take a look at how Juve could line up on Tuesday night.

GK Wojciech Szczesny

Wojciech Szczesny has not been tested in goal so far since Serie A’s return, as Gianluigi Buffon started both cup games in June. Iago Falque and Stefano Sturaro give Genoa some star power in attack, but Szczesny will likely remain unbothered between the sticks.

LB Danilo

Danilo is almost guaranteed to start with Mattia De Sciglio and Alex Sandro out, as Blaise Matuidi is needed – and preferred – in midfield. The right back is capable enough on the left side, though he’ll need to erase the memories of his ill-advised yellow cards at Bologna.

More from Old Juve

CB Leonardo Bonucci

Leonardo Bonucci’s experience and passing range continue to be assets to Juventus, and he’s a sure-fire starter whenever he’s healthy. Look for him to have another strong performance.

CB Matthijs de Ligt

The former Ajax star has been Juve’s best defender in 2020 and may even be their best player since the restart, though Paulo Dybala is also in the running. Matthijs de Ligt puts his body on the line in defense and makes so many crucial interventions. His play means Juve’s defense looks impossible to beat.

RB Juan Cuadrado

The industrious and skillful Juan Cuadrado is one of Juve’s most important players as the Bianconeri look to sew up the Serie A title. He didn’t make a huge impact against Lecce, but the matchup he has on paper looks ripe for him to be the best player on the pitch against Genoa.

LCM Blaise Matuidi

Blaise Matuidi acquitted himself well at left back as an emergency starter at the position, playing at a high level defensively while doing best to support the attack. Ever an intelligent presence in midfield, Matuidi’s work will be appreciated against Genoa. Look for him to be an outlet for Cristiano Ronaldo in the attack.

CM Miralem Pjanic

Still Juve’s regista, Miralem Pjanic may be on the way out, but he’s actually starting to round back into form after a rough start to the return. Pjanic’s passing was back to its best against Lecce, as he created loads of chances for the forwards and was the best midfielder for the Bianconeri. He could make or break Juve on Tuesday.

RCM Rodrigo Bentancur

Bridging Juan Cuadrado and either Federico Bernardeschi or Douglas Costa in the attack, Rodrigo Bentancur will be a key player to watch against Genoa. Bentancur is Juve’s best midfielder and will be ready to form a dominant duo with Arthur Melo when he arrives from Barcelona, but he is undoubtedly still a developing player.

LW Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo converted a penalty for the second straight Serie A game and added two assists against Lecce, but he also missed a load of easy chances. He’ll need to be more ruthless in front of goal against Genoa, because there will be more opportunities for him. Ronaldo still hasn’t completely hushed his critics since Italian football’s return.

CF Paulo Dybala

The most valuable player in Juve’s squad, Paulo Dybala has been the most consistent attacker in the side as of late. He’s also produced some stellar goals, specifically against Bologna and Lecce. Dybala could have yet another wonderful goal from outside the box in him at Genoa.

Next. David Alaba could be an excellent signing for Juventus. dark

RW Douglas Costa

Although Federico Bernardeschi is expected to get the start with Douglas Costa serving as the super sub, Juve’s best front three involves Costa, based on the way he’s played against Milan and Lecce. Costa single-handedly changed the game and ignited a lethargic Juve attack vs. Lecce on Friday, as all four goals occurred with him on the pitch.
