Juventus are ready to make the headlines once again.

Gonzalo Higuain will be phased out by Juventus by the end of the season in all likelihood. In spite of being one of the world’s most lethal goal-scorers even at a ripe age, the Bianconeri simply cannot afford to spend a considerable wage budget on an old player. Maurizio Sarri may have objections but even the manager himself is under pressure.

More from Old Juve

With several replacements lined up for the former Argentina international including the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Raul Jimenez, the Italian giants are expected to go for Roma forward Edin Dzeko now, Daily Mail reports. The Bosnian is one of Europe’s most experienced and perhaps an underrated player too.

Roma’s marksman isn’t the best option.

Edin Dzeko is a seasoned forward with vast knowledge of some of Europe’s top leagues having already played for a few years in the Bundesliga, Premier League and now of course, the Serie A. With 17 goals and nine assists to his name this season, the 34-year-old continues to be resilient in the capital.

However, as a result of the coronavirus, Roma, just like several other clubs are looking to cut down on costs and have looked at selling the ex-Wolfsburg striker. Dzeko does occupy a considerable amount of the Roman outfit’s wage budget and shipping him out would be a major monetary relief for Paulo Fonseca’s side.

Despite the qualities possessed by Edin Dzeko, he is quite literally the last option that must be on Juve’s radar. Most of the club’s problems owe to aged players being unable to perform at the business end of the season and landing the three-time Bosnian Player of the Year could be a move that sees Juve throw a hammer on their own foot.

What do you think about the Italian champions approaching Roma’s striker?
