Juventus blew a 2-0 lead and lost 4-2 at home against Milan.

Since Lazio slipped against Lecce, Juventus had a chance to go up by 10 points in Serie A. They didn’t take it, losing 4-2 at the Allianz Stadium to rivals Milan. This loss came despite the Bianconeri having a 2-0 lead in the second half, but an embarrassing performance on defense ruined them.

Here are the player ratings from a performance that simply cannot be repeated.

GK Wojciech Szczesny

It’s hard to fault him for any of the goals that did occur, but he nearly gifted Ante Rebic with an easy goal in the first half. Wojciech Szczesny hasn’t really inspired confidence these last few weeks.

LB Danilo

A subpar performance from Danilo. It’s hard to recall much of anything he did well in this game. Alex Sandro was actually worse off the bench, but that can be considered post-injury rust. The less minutes Danilo plays on the left, the better.

Rating: 4.5 out of 10

CB Leonardo Bonucci

One of the two worst players on the pitch, along with his center back partner. When Merih Demiral returns to health, Leonardo Bonucci could be on the bench. He keeps making mistakes to gift chances to the opposition. His passing was crisp, but his positioning and reading of the game were astoundingly poor. A lazy performance.

CB Daniele Rugani

My goodness was Daniele Rugani poor in his first game back. It’s important not to be too harsh to the returning center back, but he did not play well at all. He’s an easier scapegoat than Bonucci, but, in all honesty, Bonucci looked even more inept.

Rating: 4.0 out of 10

RB Juan Cuadrado

Swapping off Juan Cuadrado for Alex Sandro to move Danilo over to right back proved to be a mistake, thanks to Alex Sandro’s critical error. Cuadrado worked hard in this game, but his teammates often blatantly missed his runs.

Defensively, Cuadrado had two tackles and an interception, per WhoScored.com, but this wasn’t one of his best games. He did surprisingly little of note on offense, as Theo Hernandez took him out of the game.

Rating: 5.0 out of 10

CM Adrien Rabiot

Although Adrien Rabiot was subbed off early, he was one of the few Juventus players who didn’t embarrass themselves at the Allianz Stadium. His opener was a wonderful solo goal with a feathery finish, and he completed three dribbles to help carry the ball for the home side. Rabiot is quietly playing well.

Rating: 7.0 out of 10

CM Miralem Pjanic

Surprisingly, the stat sheet says that Miralem Pjanic led the team with four key passes and also added two completed dribbles. Pjanic made plenty of accurate passes and did his best to help the team, but the stats honestly flattered the impact he made.

Rating: 6.0 out of 10

CM Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur worked extremely hard defensively, leading the team with three tackles. He also led Juve with four dribbles completed and three fouls drawn. One of the best box-to-box midfielders in Serie A, Bentancur now just needs to get better at providing a final ball into or around the penalty area.

Rating: 6.5 out of 10

LW Cristiano Ronaldo

Although Cristiano Ronaldo scored a great goal in terms of technique and was always threatening on and off the ball, he didn’t quite make the impact he would have hoped to in this game. Ronaldo had to take on too much responsibility, as the other forwards provided close to zero goal-scoring threat with Paulo Dybala out. He needed to be better at involving others. Still a solid performance, though.

Rating: 7.0 out of 10

ST Gonzalo Higuain

Dreadful. Gonzalo Higuain should not be starting for Juve, and he really shouldn’t be their top backup option at the striker position. He just doesn’t get others involved enough with his passing, and while his movement is smart, that’s not nearly enough to be a key player for the Old Lady in 2020.

Next. A player Juve cannot give to Napoli. dark

RW Federico Bernardeschi

Federico Bernardeschi was the hardest-working attacking player for the Bianconeri, and this was the right winger’s best performance since the Serie A opener at Bologna. He had four key passes and tried to help his teammates out, and maybe he would have looked better with Dybala in the lineup instead of Higuain.
