Juventus will most likely sign Arkadiusz Milik at the striker position, but Alexandre Lacazette would be an even bigger signing.
The Bianconeri know that they need to quickly look at replacement options for Gonzalo Higuain, ideally signing a new striker in the 2020 summer transfer window. Higuain is fully expected to leave Juventus, and he’s shown that he can no longer be considered a starting-quality option. Juve can continue to use Paulo Dybala centrally, but that is not ideal.
Most of the transfer conversation has focused on Arkadiusz Milik. Not only is he a proven player in Serie A, but he’d be even easier to sign since his contract is expiring. Napoli have basically no choice but to sell, and the Bianconeri can dump off a player they don’t want to further lower the Polish striker’s price tag.
But Milik isn’t really an exciting option to the Juventini. The Old Lady’s supporters would much rather have a big name at the striker position, befitting of the ambitions this club has after signing Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt in back-to-back seasons.
Alexandre Lacazette, set to leave Arsenal this summer, would be exactly that kind of high-caliber striker who can make Juventus’ attack the most potent in all of European football.
According to a report from Le10Sport.com, Juve have been in contact with representatives from both Arsenal and Lacazette to get a deal done. Atletico Madrid have shown interest in the star striker, but talks have been slow to proceed. As a bigger club, Juve would have more pull to sign Lacazette, especially since he can play with Dybala and Ronaldo.
It won’t be easy for Juve to get Arsenal to sell, but it seems like the former Lyon star would like to leave the Premier League for a new challenge. Arsenal are no longer of Champions League quality and have work to do under Mikel Arteta. At the age of 29, Lacazette is still in his prime, but he doesn’t have time to wait for a project when the Bianconeri are ready to compete now.
