Juventus are willing to sell Douglas Costa in the 2020 summer transfer market.
Douglas Costa remains an effective player for Juventus when healthy, but the problem is that the experienced winger is rarely healthy. In fact, Costa recently picked up an injury in the 2-1 win over Lazio on Monday, meaning he will miss a minimum of two weeks and may not feature in the upcoming Champions League tilt against Lyon.
When Costa returns to full strength, he may be playing football as a key backup for a different big club in Europe. Juventus see the Brazilian right winger as expendable and would like to get younger as a squad, so they are open to selling him for a sufficient offer.
According to a report from TuttoJuve.com, Juve would ideally like to sell Costa for 40 million euros this summer, but they are realistically willing to accept a bid of 30 million euros from an interested club.
PSG and Manchester City have shown interest in Costa, and if he were to sign with City, he would reunite with Pep Guardiola, who initially purchased him and helped him become a star at Bayern Munich several years ago.
However, City’s derby rivals Manchester United are also said to be interested, which may come as a surprise. But United seem to want to add a couple of talented veterans to bolster their squad, hence why they’ve also been linked to Juventus center midfielders Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot.
Either Rabiot or Costa could conceivably help United, and Costa, in particular, could mutually benefit from playing at United if it means getting selective minutes as a backup behind young stars at Old Trafford.
Costa is approaching the age of 30, but as his wondergoal against Genoa showed the Juventini, his world-class technique and skills can still help a team. Juve need to look in another direction, and if they can recoup 30 million euros, they could make the move.
