LW Cristiano Ronaldo

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo should have had a brace, but his penalty effort shockingly hit the bar. Still, Ronaldo was excellent against Sampdoria, working extremely hard up and down the pitch and popping up in central areas to make things happen. He scored the opener with a perfect finish and created the second when the Sampdoria keeper failed to properly save a curled effort. Ronaldo was the danger man, hitting fake rabonas and creating chances for teammates, including one that Gonzalo Higuain should have put away.

ST Gonzalo Higuain

Enter the game early for Paulo Dybala, as the star forward picked up a thigh injury. Gonzalo Higuain should have scored a golden opportunity that he and Cristiano Ronaldo worked on the counter. Higuain isn’t a bad player, but he’s showing why he’s not good enough to be a regular player for Juventus. He just doesn’t make the most out of his opportunities.

RW Federico Bernardeschi

It was wonderful to see Federico Bernardeschi get on the scoresheet, as it had been nearly two years since he last scored. Bernardeschi came on for Danilo after the latter’s possible head injury. While Bernardeschi floated a free kick way over the bar and missed a few other chances in poor fashion, it was great to see him pounce on an opportunity after the keeper spilled Ronaldo’s shot and then score. Hopefully, it boosts his confidence, but he didn’t really do much beyond that tap in.
