Juventus forward Paulo Dybala continues to be mired in transfer rumors, but it’s not a good idea to part ways with La Joya.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored the most goals for Juventus and was crucial to the team winning their ninth straight Scudetto, but Paulo Dybala finished the 2019-2020 Serie A campaign as the league’s official MVP. Because without him, Juve wouldn’t have won Serie A either.

The creative and versatile Dybala is a highly skilled striker who can score from anywhere, often slaloming through defenses before curling the ball perfectly into the far corner from the edge of the box with his trusty left foot.

Juventus and Dybala are in negotiations for a lucrative contract extension, but while there was initially optimism, Dybala is now mentioned in transfer rumors due to an apparent lack of progress in negotiations.

I wouldn’t be worried about the rumors surrounding either Dybala or Ronaldo. Dybala is a centerpiece player who should be Juve’s superstar for years to come. He is necessary for both the present and future.

Additionally, what would Juve get in exchange for Dybala? There’s no way they get a fair deal here. In this economy, nobody can pay 100 million euros in cash, and the few teams that could be considered an exception, PSG and Manchester City, wouldn’t be interested in Dybala.

Juventus could make five swap deals with Paulo Dybala

According to Tuttosport, via Calciomercato.com, there are five possible players Juventus could get in a swap deal involving Dybala. Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus, Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata, and Isco or Marco Asensio from Real Madrid.

Let’s eliminate Morata first, because he should not interest Juventus in the least. Atletico would have to add something to the table in order to get Dybala. The same goes for Real Madrid, since Isco and Asensio aren’t as valuable. And Real definitely won’t do that.

So Jesus from City or Pogba from United? A Dybala, Jesus deal doesn’t make sense for either team, since neither would be better for their new teams. Dybala fits Juventus, and Jesus fits City.

That leaves Pogba, who has been a dream target of Juve’s for quite some time. There are two issues here. Firstly, why would United do this deal when Pogba is settled again and playing a crucial role for the club? And secondly, why would Juve do this deal when trading Pogba for a midfielder is an unbalanced deal that puts more stress on Ronaldo in the attack? Juve’s midfield needs Pogba, but creating one bigger weakness to fill another weakness is a terrible idea.

None of these swap deals make sense, and, thus, nothing about trading or selling Paulo Dybala this summer makes sense. Maybe he’s driving a hard bargain in contract negotiations, and it’s tough since Juventus don’t have as much money available due to COVID-19. But there doesn’t seem to be a worse idea than trading away a crucial forward and Serie A’s MVP for what could very well be a downgrade when looking at some of the rumored names.
