Juventus Transfers: Federico Bernardeschi has no intention to leave this winter
Once again, Federico Bernardeschi is reportedly resisting a move away from Juventus.
Although Federico Bernardeschi has begun to carve out a decent niche role for himself off the bench, Juventus would be better served selling the winger so that they can get his wages off the books and use that money to sign someone who can help the team more.
Bernardeschi’s career in Turin has never quite taken off, so Juve’s desire to sell the former Fiorentina man is unsurprising. He could potentially find another gear to his game elsewhere, as he’s been notoriously more effective for the Azzurri than for the Bianconeri.
However, according to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Federico Bernardeschi has made it clear that he does not want to leave Juventus in the winter transfer window.
Bernardeschi has received interest from Hertha Berlin in the Bundesliga and was rumored to be a possible candidate for a swap deal to acquire Atalanta star Papu Gomez, who has been made available on the transfer market after a falling-out with his manager. Gomez could have been a big creative upgrade for Juventus in the second half of the season, offering more end product and technical quality than the frustratingly inconsistent Bernardeschi.
Juventus won’t be able to be as aggressive in the transfer window without selling Federico Bernardeschi
But you have to admire Bernardeschi’s desire to work hard and prove himself in Turin, throughout all the struggles. He doesn’t want to give up his situation with the biggest club in Italy, though the club itself realizes that they are better off sending him somewhere else.
We’ll see if more appealing suitors show up for Bernardeschi, but that’s doubtful. He’s showed signs of improvement in 2020-2021, but it will have to take a lot more production than that in order for another big club to show interest.
Juventus want to make a couple of key signings this winter since they remain outside the top three in Serie A, but an inability to sell Bernardeschi will impact how many signings they will be able to complete.
