Juventini knew that this weekend’s match against Hellas Verona would be a difficult one. Earlier this season, Juventus played out a 1-1 draw with the ninth-placed side, and they drew on the road on Serie A’s Matchday 24 by the same scoreline, 1-1.

Here are the player ratings from another poor effort from the Bianconeri.

GK Wojciech Szczesny

He could do nothing about the goal Verona scored, which was a gift from the team. Szczesny saved the team from giving up a couple of more goals by showing off some great reflexes. He could afford to be better on the ball, though.

Rating: 7.0

LCB Alex Sandro

Juventus had to start Alex Sandro on the left side of a back three with Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini, Juan Cuadrado, and Danilo all unavailable. Sandro maybe could have done better defensively on the headed goal, but he is not to blame. The Brazilian also had a couple of good defensive interventions. WhoScored.com credited him with three tackles.

Rating: 6.5

CB Matthijs de Ligt

Although he had two interceptions, in truth, this wasn’t the best performance we have seen from Matthijs de Ligt.

More from Old Juve

RCB Merih Demiral

The worst defender on the pitch. Merih Demiral was horrible on the ball and disappointed Juventini at Verona. Earlier this season, it looked like Demiral had a chance to start over Bonucci, but that ship has sailed. Demiral’s ball-playing ability needs to improve before he can start over the Serie A veteran defender.

Rating: 5.0

LM Federico Bernardeschi

Not good enough. Simply not good enough. Every start is an opportunity for Federico Bernardeschi to seize the starting left midfield job that is wide open for the taking. He was shocking again and offered close to zero to the Juventus attack.

Rating: 5.0

CM Aaron Ramsey

Aaron Ramsey had a nice ball in the build to Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal, and he added another key pass with three fouls drawn. But the Wales international is just too inconsistent to fully trust.

Rating: 6.0

CM Adrien Rabiot

A horrible performance from Adrien Rabiot, who was the least effective player on the pitch. Rodrigo Bentancur, Merih Demiral, and Federico Bernardeschi made more mistakes, but Rabiot might as well have not played. I can scarcely recall a single positive contribution from him, and that is profoundly disappointing.

Rating: 4.0

CM Rodrigo Bentancur

This man works so hard defensively. He had six tackles, four interceptions, three clearances, and a blocked shot. Rodrigo Bentancur still leaves something to be desired in terms of ball security, but his defensive work makes up for it. He was actually decent in this game, if you look past the usual issues offensively.

Rating: 6.5

RM Federico Chiesa

One of the two best players on the pitch for Juventus alongside superstar forward Cristiano Ronaldo. It was Chiesa who brilliantly assisted Ronaldo’s goal, and it was Chiesa who worked his own opening earlier in the match for a shot on target. The Fiorentina man never stops running and chipping in defensively either. I don’t know why he was subbed off in the final minutes.

Rating: 7.5

FW Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo put on a clinic off the ball, but Chiesa was the only player who could find him. Bernardeschi and the center midfielders messed up when it came to finding the No. 7 open. He got his goal, but he really should have done better for the final free kick he won. Another comical effort that hit the wall was the result.

Rating: 7.0

dark. Next. Why Juventus should not sign Juan Mata

FW Dejan Kulusevski

I don’t want to be too hard on the young forward, because he really should not be playing up top; he just has to with Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala injured. But Kulusevski needs to be criticized. For a third straight game, he was dreadful and invisible.
