LM Federico Chiesa

Once again, Federico Chiesa did not deserve to be on the losing side of the match. The Fiorentina loanee is one of Juve’s two best players alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, and he continues to prove this point every week. His determination got him the opener, and he never stopped fighting for the team. Chiesa is someone Juventus can build around for the next decade, and he does not hide in the big games like this one.

Rating: 7.5

CM Rodrigo Bentancur

Rodrigo Bentancur had some nice ball recoveries, and he tested Salvatore Sirigu from distance late in the game. The Uruguayan led Juve with three tackles and added two interceptions, but you always get the sense that he could be doing more on the ball. As a passer, Bentancur leaves a lot to be desired, and he was culpable in Juve’s lack of midfield dominance in this game. Bentancur looked too weak in the derby and botched his opportunity to shine with Arthur and McKennie suspended.

Rating: 5.0

CM Danilo

The Danilo experiment in midfield has worked well in the past, but it did not pay dividends for the Bianconeri on Matchday 29. He made no impact on the pitch whatsoever either defensively or on the ball. It was hard to even notice him on the pitch before he was dragged off in the 70th minute. Danilo has been a top performer for Juventus this season, but he was not playing at a high level on Saturday.

Rating: 4.5

RM Dejan Kulusevski

Honestly, Dejan Kulusevski was the worst player on the pitch, and this isn’t the first time it’s been possible to make such a claim about the young Swede. Kulusevski is a highly talented player, but Andrea Pirlo is crushing his confidence and development by playing him as an inverted wide midfielder. He is a winger who must play closer to goal, particularly on the right-hand side. Kulusevski, like against Lazio, had a horrible giveaway that led directly to a goal. His only bright moment was a great cross for Cristiano Ronaldo that led to a header on target.
