Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo was mentioned in several transfer rumors last month, as fans and pundits began speculating about unrest after another Champions League Round of 16 elimination. A possible reunion with Real Madrid was brought to the forefront, though some were also speculating about a move to Manchester United. Even PSG continue to be mentioned as a possible landing spot for Ronaldo, but really only if Kylian Mbappe moves to Madrid.

So what is the latest on Ronaldo? Speculation aside, have the Bianconeri actually received any formal interest in Serie A’s leading goal-scorer.

Well, as you might expect if you are an astute Juventino, the answer is a flat “no”.

According to a report from Corriere di Torino, via JuveFC.com on Twitter, Juventus have not received a single offer for Cristiano Ronaldo. The reasoning is exactly what you would expect. During a pandemic, nobody wants to pay someone 31 million euros per season.

PSG seem like the only team that can take on Cristiano Ronaldo’s wages

Ronaldo’s wages aren’t a burden for Juve, but that’s only because they, uh, don’t have much quality beyond him. Without his goals and overall attacking threat off the ball, Juve would probably be fighting for a Europa League spot right now.

But for a team like Real Madrid, those wages are definitely onerous and acquiring him would hold back their future plans. That’s why the rumors to Real were contingent upon Ronaldo being so interested in leaving Juve for them that he would accept a paycut.

There is only one team that stands out as a club with the interest, potential need, and financial power to acquire Cristiano Ronaldo. And that team is PSG. Again, though, that’s only if they lose Mbappe, but the jury is still out on his future in Paris.

For now, Juventini who want Ronaldo to stay can rest assured that there is no interest in him and that the club has no intention of selling. And for those who want the club to move on from his salary, they will have to wait patiently for Mbappe’s decision and PSG’s subsequent plan of attack to replace him with another big-name player.
