The emphatic result on the weekend

Going into the game against Inter Milan last Saturday, Juventus were underdogs. Inter had recently obstructed Juve’s dominance in Serie A and were favourites to the win Derby d’Italia this time. However, when needed, Juventus raised the level of their game.

They opened the scoreline with a Cristiano Ronaldo goal. It was an unfortunate penalty decision for the away side, many would argue. Despite missing the first attempt, Ronaldo thumped it home on the rebound. On the other hand, Romelu Lukaku’s spot-kick restored parity.

The stalemate didn’t last long, with a fantastic brace from a fantastic Juan Cuadrado making sure Juventus’ 3-2  win over Inter. Giorgio Chiellini scored an own goal to make the scoreline less revolting for the Nerazzurri.

The victory in the Derby d’Italia is something Juventus will be looking to find some momentum from. And the team could build upon the captivating result. Playing against Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta is not something Juventus have enjoyed in recent times.

Juventus have been able to beat Atalanta only once in their last five meetings. And it was Atalanta who knocked Juventus out of Coppa Italia in 2019. In all, Juventus have found it hard to get past Atalanta lately. But this time, Juventus will face them on the back of a significantly huge result.

Over the years, we have seen how a result in a big game could influence the team’s forthcoming performances. Should the performance against Inter be a rehearsal for this midweek’s final, Juventus fans are here for a feast.
