Speaking of the natural low centre of gravity, here we have another candidate who utilises that particular trait to the best of our knowledge. European champion with Italy in the delayed Euro 2020, Lorenzo Insigne was heavily linked with a move away from Naples in the summer transfer window.

The little magician has one year left on his current contract. But despite proving his mettle for years in the blue shirt, Insigne is unlikely to get a substantial pay rise in his new extension. Or it can be interpreted as Napoli are unwilling to increase the dribbler’s salary, resulting in the forward potential leaving the southern Italian club for free next summer.

Now whether he, who has been at the club since the age of 15, should be given a new contract with significant pay rise reflecting his value to the club remains a discussion for another day. But he, nevertheless, will be looking to grab some attention in what is expected to be a mouth-watering clash between Juventus and I Partenopei.

Bagging 19 goals and 12 assists in all competitions and becoming the most valuable player for Napoli last season, Insigne finds himself 25 goals adrift of the top spot in Napoli’s all-time goalscorer list.

Dries Mertens tops the list with 135 goals, while Insigne sits 4th with 110, with Diego Maradona, Marek Hamsik and Mertens all ahead of the wide player. It seems difficult but not impossible. He could still reach the pinnacle by the end of the 2021/22 season. Having already scored once — albeit from the penalty — in the new campaign, the 30-year-old will be Juve’s biggest threat on Saturday.
