Juventus Transfers: The hierarchy’s ambitious plan to bring Paul Pogba back
The Juventus hierarchy are planning to ambitiously overhaul the midfield once again this summer.
The Bianconeri’s recent demise has been epitomised by their drop in performance in the middle of the park. However, there have been signs this season of improvement with Manuel Locatelli and Weston McKennie impressing, while Denis Zakaria looks to be a shrewd acquisition.
Nevertheless, there’s no doubting that upgrades are required for Juve to fulfil their lofty ambitions and return to the very top of European football.
And the latest reports regarding the club’s midfield overhaul in the summer will undoubtedly excite supports.
Juventus are planning to overhaul their midfield in style this summer with Paul Pogba linked
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport’s Fabiana Della Velle, who was the first to break the news of Dusan Vlahovic’s move to Juventus in January, the Bianconeri have conjured up a plan to bring Paul Pogba back to Turin at the end of the season.
Pogba’s contract at Manchester United expires this summer and Della Velle (via @JuveFC) reports that Juve are in contact with Mino Raiola, the player’s agent, over a transfer. The Bianconeri are willing to offer their former midfield star a salary worth €7.5m plus bonuses to bring him back to the club.
Pogba has previously teased a return to Turin and it seems that he’d be open to a reunion this summer. Massimiliano Allegri, meanwhile, is desperate to reunite with the enigmatic Frenchman and is reportedly already working on trying to convince Pogba to join him at Juve.
However, should their Pogba plan fail, Juventus have equally gifted alternatives lined up. Sergej Milinkovic-Savic remains on their agenda, while Jorginho and Frenkie De Jong are possible options if they seek to go down a different route and sign a deeper-lying midfielder. Ajax’s Ryan Gravenberch is also a possibility with the young Dutchman poised to leave Amsterdam this summer for an attainable price.
While the variation in midfield profiles suggest that Juve’s current plan is a little haphazard, their lofty ambitions can’t be denied.
