1. Matthijs de Ligt (Average Rating – 6.6)
The Dutchman simply cannot be topped.
It’s his fourth Player of the Month award of the season and his second on the bounce. However, his 6.6 average rating is the lowest he’s had while winning the award.
It wasn’t De Ligt’s finest month, but he started all five of Juventus’ encounters and his only notable slip-up came in the Champions League humiliation at the hands of the Yellow Submarine. Alongside Daniele Rugani, De Ligt had performed stoutly before Rugani’s penalty giveaway with 15 minutes sparked a remarkable collapse.
The young defender has otherwise been typically reliable at centre-back and he was just one of two players to start all of Juve’s games in the month. He may well be the Bianconeri’s most important piece, and he’s poised to have a new long-term partner in defence from the start of next season.
