Head coach Thiago Motta added 21-year-old defender Veiga, in a deal that will cost the Turin team €4.5 million (US$4.7m) for the second half of the season.
Veiga will join up with newly unveiled Bianconeri players Alberto Costa and Kolo Muani. Defender Costa signed on a permanent transfer from Portuguese outfit Vitoria Guimaraes, while striker Muani has arrived on loan from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.
Veiga has made just seven league appearances this term for Chelsea, despite only joining the English Premier League club from Swiss side Basel last July.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca persistently played the Portugal international at left-back, but the 21-year-old was getting exasperated as he strongly favours the center-back position.
The agreement with the Bianconeri does not include an obligation to buy, with the club seeing off interest in Veiga from German team Borussia Dortmund and French highfliers Olympique Marseille.
Disasi, a giant central defender who has been playing at right-back Chelsea, could follow Veiga to Turin during the January transfer window.
Yet Motta’s tactics, which demand the physical challenge of getting up and down the pitch for defenders, may not suit the former AS Monaco star.
Disasi, who has won five caps for France, is definitely on the radar for Juventus. However, there’s interest from Italian duo AC Milan, Atalanta as well as German side Bayer Leverkusen and English club Newcastle United.
These teams have yet to table an offer, which could ultimately result in AC Milan outcast Fikayo Tomori going in the other direction as a straight swap. That would be a big blow for Juventus, who are also seriously monitoring center-back Tomori.
