The 25-year-old, formidable with Lille, is intent on leaving Ligue 1 for a new challenge. Italian media has reported that the Canada forward has “engaged in talks with Juventus”.

US-born David has a long list of admirers in England, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Especially as he becomes a free agent at the end of June.

Although not having to fork out a hefty transfer fee appeals to leading clubs, the reality is that David will prove a costly acquisition.

Cost to sign striker

His agents have indicated that there needs to be a €10 million (US$11.36m) signing bonus, a minimum annual salary of €9m (US$10.25m) and at least €5m (US$5.68m) in commission fees.

Without the guarantee of Champions League soccer next season for the Turin titans, David is currently favoring a move to La Liga leaders Barcelona.

Hans Flick has been sensational in his first season as head coach at the Camp Nou, and is expected to make a summer revamp. Exiled attacker Ansu Fati, who could choose to join Juventus, needs replacing.

David is just one of numerous names rumoured to be on Barcelona’s radar alongside Victor Osimhen, who turned down Juve, and Bianconeri target Sandro Tonali.

PSG target hot-shot

Although Paris Saint-Germain are extremely interested in securing the services of David, who has bagged 16 goals in 28 Ligue 1 outings this term, his preference is to ply his trade in another country.

PSG are trying to offload outcast Kolo Muani, currently at Juve but having failed to score for over a month, which would free up the purse strings to bring in a top-class striker.

Juventus are scouring attacking options should Dusan Vlahovic move to the Premier League during the next transfer window.

As well as David being on Juve’s wishlist there are Borussia Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy, Crystal Palace start Jean-Philippe Mateta, Manchester United’s Antony and RB Leipzig ace Benjamin Sesko.
