Although Saturday’s topsy-turvy win continued their assault on the Scudetto, their defensive frailties desperately need shoring up before they tackle German giants.

Dortmund sit second in the Bundesliga and are in formidable form, so another blockbuster awaits inside the Allianz Stadium.

Tudor tweaked his team to face Inter Milan, in the first Derby d’Italia for both him and Milan boss Cristian Chivu.

In-form Dusan Vlahovic, a top priority signing for Inter next summer, was preferred over Jonathan David as the target man.

The Serbia striker produced an industrious performance but never came close to finding the back of the net. While the short stint from goal poacher David resulted in setting up Vasilije Adzic’s stoppage time winner.

Chivu, rattled by the shock home reversal at the hands of Udinese before the international break, kicked off with a cautious approach. The talent on the Inter bench was astonishingly rich, and after he introduced some stalwarts the game came to life.

Goals galore followed, with Inter taking a 3-2 lead before Tudor followed suit with a stream of substitutes that paid dividends as Khephren Thuram and Adzic netted for Juve’s remarkable 4-3 success.

Some of the brilliant play from the Bianconeri will leave Tudor with plenty to digest ahead of the Dortmund showdown.

Rare back four under Tudor

Tudor did adjust his line-up, veering away from three defenders to a flat back four to add some backline steel. This tactical approach could be implemented from the start when Dortmund arrive in Turin.

He should be delighted to have Andrea Cambiaso back from suspension, who bagged a brace against Dortmund in the unlikely 2-1 pre-season triumph.

Goals do not appear to be a problem at the moment for Juve, and with a trio of target men to choose from maybe Tudor will consider starting with two upfront.

Lois Openda, who arrived from RB Leipzig on deadline day, knows the Bundlesliga inside out following two seasons in Germany. He could start alongside either David or Vlahovic if Tudor shakes things up.

Motta also made early Serie A impact

There’s great optimism surrounding Juventus this season after their terrific start to the Serie A campaign. Although it should not be forgotten that former manager Thiago Motta also got the best out of his squad at the beginning of last season.

While Inter boasted a much stronger squad than Juve, the fact was that the Bianconeri was littered with more energetic and youthful players that never gave up.

The never say die attitude of Juventus, whose motto is all about winning matches, was clear to see. They gave their all as work horses, giving fans something to cheer and the result even brought out rare beaming smiles from Tudor.

Tudor praises Juventus players

Tudor enthused at the post-match press conference: "It’s a great victory because we were playing against an important, high-level team. It was a strange match, full of goals and changes to the scoreline.

“In the end, these games are sometimes decided by goals like [Vasilije] Adzic's, who has this kind of ability. He deserved to come on, we've seen him do very well recently.

“We could certainly have managed some phases better during the game, but we're happy. [Juan] Cabal is an exceptional lad, we're happy to have him back because he has quality and will help us [this season].”

After Dortmund, Tudor has back-to-back Serie A games before the next international break. Juve travel to Hellas Verona on 20 September, then a week later entertain Atalanta. If the club can make it five victories on the bounce then they will be seen as serious Scudetto contenders.
