Recent form

Juventus were within six points of Serie A leaders Inter Milan after five straight league wins, which made them outside contenders for the Scudetto.

Yet a dismal display against Atalanta last weekend ended in the side being booed off the Allianz Stadium. Head coach Motta apologised in the post-match press conference after Juve's heaviest home league defeat since 1967.

After back-to-back cup exits from the Coppa Italia and Champions League, the defeat has blown away any aspirations of silverware this season. There has been speculation that Motta could be a goner if the trip to Florence proves disastrous.

In-form Fiorentina have posted four wins and suffered four defeats from their past eight league games, to sit five points adrift of the top six spots that guarantee European soccer next season. The club will be buoyed by reaching the Conference League for a third time on the spin. Manager Raffaele Palladino masterminded a 3-1 triumph over Panathinaikos on Thursday for a 5-4 aggregate success.

Head-to-head

Ex-Juve forward Moise Kean opened the scoring when the teams met in December. Khephren Thuram scored a brace but Riccardo Sottil hit a late equaliser.

The Turin giants are unbeaten in seven of their past eight Serie A matches against Fiorentina and boast a league record of 82 wins, 54 draws and 36 losses against them.

Team news

Francisco Conceicoo, Douglas Luiz, Jonas Rouhi, Nicolo Savona and Renato Veiga will be notable absentees, while Gleison Bremer, Juan Cabal and Arkadiusz Milik remain on Juve's long-term injury list.

Andrea Colpani misses out for Fiorentina, and Yacine Adli is a potential starter having made his way back onto the bench following a recent layoff. Rolando Mandragora and Nicolo Zaniolo will be available after serving suspensions.

Players to watch

Juventus - Khephren Thuram

Had been on a red-hot run of form prior to the Atalanta debacle, scoring in the two previous games. Bagged a brace when these side met in the reverse fixture back.

Fiorentina - Moise Kean

Notched what proved to be the winning aggregate goal against Panathinaikos to become only the third Fiorentina player to hit the 20-goal mark since the Serie A three-point era started.

Expected line-ups

Fiorentina probable starting XI:
De Gea; Pongracic, Mari, Ranieri; Dodo, Adli, Cataldi, Ndour, Gosens; Beltran, Kean

Juventus probable starting lineup:
Di Gregorio; Weah, Gatti, Kalulu, Cambiaso; Thuram, Locatelli; Yildiz, McKennie, Gonzalez; Dlahovic

Old Juve prediction

Fiorentina 1 Juventus 3

There is no love lost between Fiorentina and Juventus, with La Viola bearing decades of resentment towards Juve for poaching all of their best talent, so it should be a firecracker atmosphere.

Fiorentina are the only Serie A side yet to concede in the opening 15 minutes this term, and have scored the joint-highest number of league goals in the first quarter-of-an-hour this season.

As this game could be do-or-die for Motta, goals could be banged in at each end. Kean will want to show Juventus what they missed out on, while Dlahovic will relish a chance to score against his former club.
