Golden opportunity for Juve's exiled loanees in crunch games

The duo are expected to fill the voids with attackers Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz missing from these all-important Serie A showdowns.

Assuming that table-topping Napoli and Scudetto rivals Inter Milan will both collect a Champions League berth, there are seven sides still dreaming of qualifying for the leading club continental competition.

Juventus, who have a shot at overtaking Atalanta to end the season in third place, tackle buoyant Bologna on Sunday and a week later Lazio.

The Bianconeri are expecting Vlahovic’s thigh injury to sideline the Serbia striker for these key clashes, while Yildiz is suspended following his red card against Monza last weekend.

Muani kicked off his Serie A arrival with an astonishing five goals in his first three games. He hadn’t found the back of the net since early February until he scored against basement side Monza in the 2-0 triumph.

The French international arrived on loan from Ligue 1 champions Paris-Saint Germain in January, and despite patchy form was a favorite under Thiago Motta. When Motta was given the boot, Muani fell out of favor and was overlooked by interim head coach Igor Tudor.

Tudor needed a center-forward in the absence of Vlahovic, so reluctantly picked Muani to start. The 27-year-old scored the second goal and was praised, with much exaggeration, by Tudor in the post-match press conference.

In shop window

It seems doubtful that, even if Muani suddenly makes an impact during Juve’s final four Serie A games, the club will want to keep him. Yet starting matches allows PSG outcast Muani to put himself in the shop window with a plethora of admirers in England, Italy and Turkey.

His current price tag of €30 million (US$33m) still seems steep, which is likely to put off any potential suitors.

Turkish Supa Lig giants Galatasaray would appear to be a more viable option. The Istanbul-based club are exploring a season-long loan for Muani, as a straightforward replacement for Victor Osimhen who turned down an approach from Juventus.

Tactical switch

Conceicao, another player exiled since Tudor took charge in March, has been surplus to requirements under Juve’s favored 3-4-2-1 tactical formation.

With Yildiz missing for the next couple of matches, Tudor could give the nod to the out-and-out winger Conceicao. The Portugal international has mainly been subjected to a bit-part, left on the bench, under Tudor but he could be unleashed against Bologna on Sunday.

Conceicao was one of only a handful of players who dazzled during the recent shock 1-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Parma. He arrived as a second-half substitute for Vlahovic, who limped off at the break with a thigh injury.

Club World Cup

The 22-year-old could propel himself to be in Juve’s long-term plans should he be offered the opportunity to impress during the rest of the league season, and at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in June and July.

Super agent Jorge Mendes brokered Conceicao’s loan from FC Porto, with only an informal agreement in place to make the deal permanent for a further €30m (US$33m).

Juventus brought in Conceicao to replace Matias Soule, not wanted by Motta and who is excelling under head coach Claudio Ranieri at AS Roma.

Lille winger Edon Zhegrova, valued at €25m (US$33m), is one of Juve’s main targets to replace Conceicao although the Kosova international is on the radar at Barcelona and Napoli.
