Juve may be on an unbeaten run of seven games under former Italy boss Spalletti, but crunch matches against the highflying trio of AS Roma, Bologna and defending champions Napoli will be the real litmus test for the Turin titans.
With a tricky run-in before Christmas, which includes next week's must-win Champions League clash against Pafos, this month will determine whether Spalletti was the right choice for Juventus.
Former Juve goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon publicly declared this week, as pundit, that Spalletti was the perfect man for the Bianconeri this season.
Spalletti has yet to lose a game as Juve head coach, but has surprisingly stuck to Igor Tudor's predictable and dour formation of 3-4-2-1. Like Tudor, Spalletti rarely gets his side firing on all cylinders.
With defensive injuries hampering his selection, the 66-year-old is desperate to bring in a fresh face to liven up the backline.
Lecce star on Juve radar
Lecce center-back Tiago Gabriel is among the Bianconeri’s priority targets for January's transfer window, while there is serious Premier League interest from both Brentford and West Ham United for the promising 20-year-old.
The Hammers are reportedly prepared to fork out €18 million (US$21m), with Brentford believed to happier made a higher bid to secure the signature of the Portuguese ace.
This kind of outlay is too high for Juventus to consider, with the fallen Italian giants contemplating a sweeten by sending 20-year-old Vasilije Adzic on loan. Lecce previously monitored the Montenegro international midfielder.
Udinese ace linked with Juve
To lose Adzic, the Bianconeri would want to dip into the transfer marker and have lined up Udinese midfielder Arthur Atta. The 22-year-old played against Juventus in their Coppa Italia last 16 clash at the Allianz Stadium.
Yet Udinese do not appear keen to relinquish one of their emerging stars mid season, but could be tempted by summer move However, Juve are being explored by UEFA over their finances, and could find themselves unable to make any transfers at the end of the season.
Atta, also on both Lazio's and Napoli's radar, would be a bargain buy as he has a price tag of just €3m (US$3.5m).
Spalletti will be tested over his next four games, and likely to be judged on these results. Unless he alters his tactics then Juve could come a cropper because they are too predictable.
Although there are defensive frailties, the defense stood firm against Udinese with shotstopper Michele Di Gregorio hardly involved against Udinese.
Juventus need more firepower
It is at the other end of the pitch where Juventus have shortcomings. Both veteran Arkadiusz Milik and Dusan Vlahovic are sidelined because of injury. That leaves Spalletti with just two recognized strikers in summer signings Jonathan David and Lois Openda.
Goal poacher David, who was going to be up for grabs in January before Vlahovic's high grade adductor injury. and unorthodox striker Openda are not used to being played down the middle.
This means that Spalletti, who was versatile in his tactical approach before joining Juventus, has to shake things up by considering a new attacking role for either American ace Weston McKennie or Turkish talent Kenan Yildiz.
A quartet of tricky games are Spalletti's make-or-break scenario, with Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner being viewed as the next Juve head coach next summer should Spalletti not succeed with the Bianconeri.
