Juventus alerted by Colombia star’s goal to join a bigger club

A South American ace at a bargain price could be just the ticket for cash-strapped Juve to swiftly pursue this summer.

While silly speculation about high-profile players with expensive price tags being on the Bianconeri’s radar relentlessly fill the Italian sports media, the reality is that the club need cut-price deals.

FA Cup hero Daniel Munoz may well be up for grabs with a tag of around just €25 million (US$29m), despite signing a contract with Crystal Palace last April that expires in 2028.

Juventus and Manchester City should get ready to pounce for the 29-year-old, if Munoz sticks to his word that he is ready to move on to the next phase of his career.

Premier League bargain

Munoz, who arrived in the Premier League for only €8m (US$9.3m) in January 2024, is currently back in Colombia and training with his former club Atletico Nacional.

He revealed to the local media company Win Sports TV: “I want to play for the best teams in the world, but they haven't spoken to me directly.

“I dream and work every day to achieve it, and I hope it can happen as soon as possible. I hope it’s in this [transfer] window. But if not, I'm very happy at Crystal Palace.”

His relentless surges down the right flank have resulted in a rapid rise in the Premier League, which are replicated from his international outings.

Under Guardiola's radar

Munoz set up team-mate Eberechi Eze for the FA Cup final winner against Manchester City in May. City boss Pep Guardiola has been monitoring him ever since.

Juventus are a historic club that should appeal to Munoz if they are prepared to splash the cash.

The Italian giants’ summer spending spree has stuttered so far for head coach Igor Tudor.

He urgently requires versatile players with international experience who can operate both in defense and attack. Munoz can be utilized as right-back or right wing-back.

Unearthing someone who has not been rejected by his club and available at a reasonable fee is a rarity, but Juventus will have to be quick to beat off City’s interest.
