The 28-year-old defensive midfielder, a former Brazil international, has never made an impact for the Turin titans since arriving from Barcelona as a marquee signing in June 2020.

Juventus splashed the cash with their €72 million (US$77.9m) acquisition on a five-year deal. He spent two seasons sporting the black and white jersey, scoring just once in 63 appearances

A disastrous season-long loan at Liverpool was followed by a successful stint at Fiorentina last term, where he made 48 appearances in all competitions.

Surplus to Project Motta

Arthur was included in Juve’s Champions League squad at the start of the campaign by Thiago Motta, yet was allowed to join Girona during the winter transfer window.

He came close to returning to his native country with Santos, but was lure by La Liga when Girona and Real Betis started to battle it out to secure his signature.

Provided that Girona and Juventus can reach an agreement, Arthur extended his Juve contract in July 2023 until the end of the 2025/26 season, he can stay at the feeder club for Manchester City.

Glory days for Girona

Girona were a La Liga revelation last term, finishing third behind champions Real Madrid and Barcelona. This campaign has been tricky, with the club currently closer to relegation than the top six positions.

The Catalan team, led by head coach Michel since 2021, are plotting to return to their heady heights of their 2023/24 season. Last term they briefly topped La Liga, beat Barcelona and polished it off by securing their first foray into the Champions League.

Girona will require top-class players like Arthur, who is highly unlikely to ever turn out again for the Bianconeri, to tackle next term. Michel has shifted the Juve flop to central midfield for their past two La Liga matches, with Arthur's versatility key to potentially signing him in the summer.

He may be a forgotten figure for Juventus, but since his Girona debut on St. Valentine’s Day Arthur has featured in a further five La Liga games. His goal is to reign in Spain beyond this season.
