Juventus have the edge over Manchester United for PSG pair

PSG were sublime in recently dismantling Inter Milan with goals galore in Europe’s leading club competition, yet still aim to strengthen their frontline.

A two-team chase is anticipated between Juve and Manchester United for PSG outcasts Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos.

The Bianconeri seems like a more attractive option than United for the duo. Juventus can offer Champions League soccer, and the Italian top flight is not as physically demanding as the bruising Premier League.

Superagent Jorge Mendes is pushing for forwards Kolo Muani and Goncalo Ramos to remain team-mates next term, but away from the French capital at a cost of around €100 million (US$113.7m).

Top billing in 2023

They were both acquired two years ago, arriving as prolific scorers, with the ambition to kick-start a new era at PSG. New talent has left Muani as a misfit and Ramos playing a bit-part role.

Clarification is required from Juventus about Muani’s future plans, as the Bianconeri want him back in their squad to compete at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

PSG’s original idea of pairing Muani and Ramos could potentially work wonders for Juventus, which may help persuade the Bianconeri to splash the cash this summer.

Mendes was involved in the short-term loan that took Muani to the Turin titans during the winter transfer window. The 26-year-old French international turned down the opportunity to join either United and Tottenham Hotspur, but is still monitored by the clubs.

Mendes has a goal

Ramos, who played six minutes in the 2024/25 Champions League final when Inter were overwhelmed 5-0, is also represented by Mendes. Ramos has the same price tag as Muani of €50m (US$56.85m).

Having bagged eight Serie A goals in 16 games during his stint in Turin, the club are proposing a loan deal with an option to buy.

Muani has only hit 11 goals in 54 appearances for PSG since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt, so he was hastily loaned out to Juve last January.

While Muani is not in the plans of PSG head coach Luiz Enrique, Portuguese international Ramos may well be despite being informed that he can leave this summer.

Hot-shot Ramos

Ramos banged in 18 goals from his 41 appearances last term, which appears impressive considering that he was sidelined from August to November with an ankle injury.

The 23-year-old, who was snapped up from Benfica, has struggled to secure a regular starting position as PSG have a dearth of talent upfront.

After their majestic performance in the Champions League final, PSG remain on the lookout for talented players to further establish them as Europe’s top team.

This plan effectively signals the end for both Muani and Ramos with the Ligue 1 champions. Juve and Manchester United are currently plotting a double swoop for PSG’s failed forward partnership, while clubs from the Premier League, Serie A and Turkish Super Lig monitor the situation.
