Juventus in the mix to pounce for Premier League misfit

Despite boasting four center forwards in their squad, Juve have renewed their interest in a former Bologna striker.

Joshua Zirkzee came close to being signed by Juve during the past two summer transfer windows, and remains on the club’s radar for a loan in January.

With Juventus boss Igor Tudor facing a tricky time following a remarkable run of five draws on the bounce, there could be changes during the winter transfer window for the Turin titans in the dugout as well as in the squad.

Tudor’s troops are unbeaten this season, both in Serie A and Champions League action, but after the international break face daunting trips to tackle Como and Real Madrid.

Lying fifth after six Italian top tier games will not please the Juve supporters or the Juventus hierarchy. Especially after they only survived defeat thanks to AC Milan’s second-half penalty miss on Sunday to earn a share of the spoils.

Tudor has stuck to his guns with his favored lone target man despite having four forwards in Jonathan David, Arkadiusz Milik, Lois Openda and Dusan Vlahovic.

The relentless substitutions of whichever striker starts, and frequently giving two strikers a second-half run out, has proved ineffective. This leaves Tudor urgently required to sort out this dilemma rather than haphazard tactics that appear to appease his marksmen.

Milik and Vlahovic moves unlikely

Milik and Vlahovic being loaned out or sold in January seem unlikely, as there were no takers during the summer. A part-cash swap deal involving Vlahovic and Zirkzee is improbable.

Yet Manchester United misfit Zirkzee will be available during the next transfer window, either on a loan or as a permanent transfer.

There has been serious interest in the Dutch international from Italian clubs before his  move to Man United, with AC Milan, Como and Juventus monitoring his availability.

The out-of-favor forward, who has spent much of this season on the bench, has Premier League interest. Everton and West Ham United are both in the market for additional attacking options in January.

Should Amorim be given the boot before January then Zirkzee may no longer be surplus to United’s requirements.

Arriving at Juventus, where strikers appear unhappy at their constant rotation amid bizarre tactics from Tudor, is not an attractive proposition although there could be a new Juventus head coach come January.
