While the Bianconeri battled hard to get former Italy head coach Luciano Spalletti installed on a short-term basis, only until the end of the season, there has been constant unrest among other Serie A sides who expect to fighting to win a top four finish.

Stefano Pioli, a one-time Juventus target to become manager in the summer, failed miserably at Fiorentina and left La Viola rock bottom in the league without any victories in his 10 games.

While Southampton flop Ivan Juric was fired by Atalanta after 11 matches, having recently clashed with one of his own players mid-game.

The second courtesy chat was just before Spalletti was appointed as Juventus manager, but the 41-year-old was overlooked although he was in the running to possibly replace former Italy head coach Spalletti at the end of the Serie A season.

Yet ex-Monza and Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino has opted to return to Serie A management and has been appointed by Atalanta.

Palladino resigned from his role at Fiorentina, and left La Viola by mutual consent in the summer having guided the club to the Conference League semi-finals and sixth place in the Italian top tier after just one season in charge.

Ex-Juve striker remains on radar

The 41-year-old , who used to play upfront for Juventus, will still be viewed as a potential Bianconeri boss if he can continue to produce eye-catching performance from his teams with solid results.

Atalanta, who suffered successive defeats after five stalemates on the spin, languish in 13th place to trail Serie A leaders Inter Milan by 11 points. They sit seven positions behind Juventus, with just six points dividing the pair.

Juventus were held 1-1 by 10-man Atalanta in late September, with the return Serie A clash scheduled for April.

Palladino pipped Motta at Atalanta

Palladino, who was preferred by Atalanta over former Juventus manager Thiago Motta, has the international break to prepare his new charges to tackle hosts Napoli in his first match as Atalanta head coach.

His appointment is the fourth coaching change in the Italian top flight this season after with Pioli's failure at Fiorentina, Patrick Vieira given the boot by Genoa and Tudor axed by Juventus.

Palladino will also tackle the Champions League with his new club, who are faring much better than Juiventus this term. Atalanta have tasted one defeat, one draw and picked up two victories in Europe's leading club competition. Juventus have yet to register a win from their four Champions League encounters.
