TEAMtalk recently reported that Benfica center-back Antonio Silva might be on the move this January, with Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Juventus all showing strong interest in signing him.

Despite his potential, Silva has struggled for game time under Benfica boss Bruno Lage, making just six league starts this season as Nicolas Otamendi and Tomas Araujo remain ahead of him in the lineup.

As a result, reports suggest Benfica are open to letting Silva leave on loan in January, potentially including a €50 million (£41.2 million, $52.5 million) obligation to buy in the deal.

Are Juventus ready to pull the trigger on two defenders?

Sky Sport reports (h/t Calciomercato) that Juventus might look to strengthen their defense by signing not one but two defenders in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, as they await news on Arkadiusz Milik’s return, they could also consider adding a striker. However, if the Polish forward is back in action, a striker may no longer be a priority.

For the defense, Antonio Silva is the standout target, with the club showing strong interest in him. Additionally, Jakub Kiwior remains a potential option in the background. The Arsenal defender is reportedly on the way out, and Juventus is actively gathering information about him.

Meanwhile, for Kiwior, Napoli are reportedly eager to bring in the Poland international after an injury to center-back Alessandro Buongiorno.

Although Kiwior has played regularly due to Arsenal's defensive injury crisis, 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly was selected at left-back for Saturday's match against Everton.

It will be interesting to see whether Juventus' ambitions to secure two defenders turn out to come to fruition as they attempt to have a quality backline for the second half of the 2024-25 season.
