Former Portugal youth international Diego Moreira, who has recently switched nationalities to Belgium having been born in Liege, could be a cut-price deal for Juve.
The club have been exploring some left winger bargains, with the 20-year-old ex-Chelsea player on their radar according to a report from Sky Sports Switzerland.
Moreira, the son of Almami Moreira who used to represent Standard Liege in the Belgium Pro League and Guinea-Bissau on the international arena, is versatile. He can be utilized as a left-back, a left midfielder and as a left winger.
He impressed in his 32 league games with RC Strasbourg in the French top tier, helping the unfancied club finish seventh in Ligue 1 to earn a berth in the Europa Conference League qualifiers. Moreira scooped the coveted man-of-the-match accolade eight times last term.
Back-up plan
With Kenan Yildiz the only recognized left winger in the Juventus squad, this is a position that certainly needs back-up next term.
Turkish talent Yildiz is versatile, and arguably would be better utilized as a second striker in his bid to become a Juventus legend like his hero Alessandro Del Piero.
Moreira kicked off his career in the youth academy at Standard Liege, and joined Benfica in August 2020 where he played one top flight match before switching to Chelsea in July 2023.
He was loaned to French outfit Olympique Lyonnais and made seven appearances, before being recalled early by the Premier League giants.
Moved on by Maresca
Chelsea appointed Enzo Maresca as head coach last July, and a month later Moreira was sold to their feeder club Strasbourg on a contract that expires at the end of the 2028/29 campaign.
Although the transfer was believed to be around €2 million (US$2.3m), Chelsea included a buy-back clause in the contract.
His market value has dramatically increased, probably 10-fold, but still appears to be a relatively inexpensive potential acquisition for Juventus.
Although Moreira seems settled at Strasbourg under head coach Liam Rosenior, the youngster is only likely to be tempted by a move to the Turin titans if minutes are virtually guaranteed.
