Juventus outclassed Inter throughout the second half. The hosts were rewarded with a superb 74th-minute strike from Francisco Conceicao, following neat footwork from Kolo Muani, to seal a 1-0 success.

Thiago Motta's team weathered the storm during a one-sided opening 45 minutes, with the home defence swift to snuff out any danger from the Nerazzurri.

Recent pressure on the head coach has been alleviated, with Motta happy and firmly focused on the future.

Old Juve’s Player Ratings

Starting XI:

Michele Di Gregorio – 7.0

Confident with the ball at his feet. Kept Juve in the game with excellent saves from Mehdi Taremi in the first half and Denzel Dumfries after the turnaround.

Timothy Weah – 7.5

Made himself a nuisance to Inter going forward. His important tackle on Taremi showed that he is relishing his role as a makeshift right-back.

Federico Gatti – 7.5

Dribbled forward on the attack when Juve were pressing hard. Almost snatched a poacher’s goal, and an extended contract with a pay increase is being lined up.

Renato Veiga – 8.0 (Old Juve Man of the Match)

He never flinched and remained confident on the ball, even when Inter had five up front towards the end of the contest.

Nicolo Savona – 5.0

Struggled to cope with Inter's first half dominance. Hooked on the hour-mark as Denzel Dumfries was constantly getting the better of him.

Teun Koopmeiners – 6.5

Slow in a playmaker role during the opening half, and vastly improved in a more advanced role after the break. Came close to snatching a goal.

Khephren Thuram – 7.0

Drove on from midfield and stepped up with Douglas Luiz out injured and Manuel Locatelli rested before Tuesday's Champions League showdown with PSV Eindoven.

Francisco Conceicao – 8.5

A massive headache for Inter, causing endless problems. Ran himself into the ground and grabbed what proved to be the decisive goal.

Weston McKennie – 7.0

Skipper for only the second time this season and ably tackled the no.10 role. Contributed to the attack and kept the ball flowing in midfield.

Nicolas Gonzalez – 6.5

Forced a third-minute save from Jann Sommer, and found his feet to ping in a set of crosses during the second half.

Kolo Muani – 7.0

Struggled for service in the first 45 minutes. Brilliantly contributed to the winning goal with sensational footwork to set up Conceicao.

Substitutes:

Andrea Cambiaso – 7.0

His return following an ankle injury helped the Bianconeri look more composed and commanding.

Manuel Locatelli – 6.5

Managed to help Juve stay in control for the final 15 minutes, when Inter were throwing everything at eeking out at least a draw.

Kenan Yildiz – 6.0

During his 10-minute cameo the teenager raced down the wings, which killed any sort of momentum that Inter tried to build.
