Low-down on Juve’s targets at Manchester United

Manchester United were lost at sea last term. A mass exodus of players is expected to get the club back on track, with the Turin titans having a keen interest in any clear out.

The Bianconeri boss Igor Tudor will be eager to hit the ground running when the Italian top tier kicks off in August. He has plenty of key areas to bolster before Juve can be considered serious Scudetto challengers, including upfront.

With the prospect of Samuel Mbangula and Dusan Vlahovic departing, and Arkadiusz Milik being loaned out, there will be a goal crisis if all three leave Juventus but are not replaced.

Over the past 12 months Juve have identified the United attacking quartet of Antony, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

U-turn for ex-Bologna ace

Dutch international Zirkzee, who arrived from Bologna, is rumored to no longer be available for transfer. Yet United head coach Ruben Amorim is understood to want to cash in on other players to finance his summer squad overhaul.

United, along with Arsenal and Juventus, are currently chasing Sporting Lisbon hot-shot Viktor Gyokeres.

Antony enjoyed a successful loan last term in Spain at Real Betis, finding the back of the net nine times and providing five goal assists from 26 matches.

Real Betis have proposed a co-ownership deal with United to retain the Brazilian, who has a contract with United until 2027, to tackle the next La Liga campaign. This agreement would include purchasing a share of Antony’s rights and a generous sell-on clause that would benefit United.

Antony's proposed pay cut

Right winger Antony is believed to be willing to accept a salary reduction to make the transfer possible to Betis, following a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy.

Bayer Leverkusen and Juventus remain interested in signing Antony. The German Bundesliga side have received big bucks for the sale of Florian Wirtz to Liverpool, and recently appointed former Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag who is eager to be reunited with Antony.

Left winger Garnacho has experienced a fall out with Amorim, who reportedly informed the Argentinian in front of his United team-mates to look for a new club.

Juventus, Leverkusen and Napoli are monitoring the 20-year-old who progressed from United’s academy. Aston Villa, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are among his Premier League admirers.

Hojlund's PL failure

While United will have to cut their losses with Hojlund, who cost €75 million (US$87m) from Atalanta two years ago, as he has been a flop in front of goal with just four Premier League goals last term.

Inter Milan and Juventus believe that he could replicate his Serie A form, so are tracking his availability as a cut-price bargain.

Tudor has the determination and desire to succeed at Juve, but bringing Premier League misfits was part of the reason why Thiago Motta was sacked.

A repeat display of splashing the cash on players who can’t cut the mustard would soon bring the axe down on Tudor, so the wily Croatian should be cautious with his transfer requests.
