American ace Weston McKennie and Jonathan David found the back of the net with second-half strikes in a five-minute spell to seal back-to-back Champions League success over gutsy Pafos in Turin on Wednesday night.
The Cypriot champions came storming out of the blocks against another rotated Juve side, with striker Anderson Silva's fifth-minute effort narrowly missing the target.
Kenan Yildiz began being his usual explosive self, drawing a save off Neofytos Michael three minutes later. Surprise starter Fabio Miretti followed up only to sky his shot over the target.
Although there were missed chances by the hosts, who constantly pressed Pafos, it took until just before the half-hour mark before there was another save when Vlad Dragomir forced a save off Juve shotstopper Michele Di Gregorio
Bianconeri fans stunned by Pafos
Juventus fans were divided over being stunned into silence or making noises of discontent when the visitors hit a purple patch. Silva was denied by the right-hand post on 32 minutes and Dragomir's long-range effort tested Di Gregorio less than 60 seconds later.
From the resultant corner, swung in by Mislav Orsic, Derrick Luckassen should have buried his header but sent it wide of the gaping goalmouth.
With Pafos in their stride, they forced a trio of corners in quick succession just before half-time. The last one, from Orsic, picked out David Goldar who was also guilty of missing a guild-edged headed opportunity to give the visitors a deserved lead.
Juventus lifted their game just before the interval, and David fluffed his very close-range effort following Lloyd Kelly's corner for even honors and scoreless after an end-to-end opening half.
Conceicao adds Juventus creativity
Francisco Conceicao was brought on to attack Pafos for the second half, with ineffective Edon Zhegrova benched. The Portuguese winger almost made a dream start, but was unable to head Teun Koopmeiners' cross on target.
Koopmeiners, playing a box-to-box role, turned from provider to wannabe scorer but Michael stopped the ball from finding the bottom left corner of the net.
Skipper Manuel Locatelli, after being booked on 55 minutes, was hauled off by cautious Juventus boss Luciano Spalletti on the hour mark just seconds after his headed pass picked out Conceicao who should have beaten Michael.
With unorthodox striker Lois Openda unleashed and the captain's armband handed to Yildiz, the Bianconeri suddenly cranked up their game. Following missed scoring chances from Openda and David, McKennie showed them his finishing prowess from Cambiaso's corner.
McKennie strike destroys Pafos
His 67th-minute breakthrough, finding the top right corner, was a massive turning point because the valiant Cypriot side fell apart and soon conceded again.
Yildiz picked out David with a pinpoint pass, and with his second touch picked his spot to beat on-rushing Michael and send the ball low and into the bottom right corner.
That signaled the end for Pafos, with David immediately replaced by Vasilije Adzic after scoring and Spalletti giving Khephren Thuram a run out instead of Miretti. When Yildiz made way for defender Juan Cabal with six minutes to go, he handed him the captain's armband.
The battling Cypriot side, whose only visit to Italy was last year's 3-2 Conference League defeat by Fiorentina, made a tactical triple substitution to combat Juve's approach but only had Jaja's missed attempt in added time to show for any kind of fightback.
Juventus are moving places
Juventus leaped into 17th position in the league phase with two matches remaining in January, while Pafos slipped into 26th place and out of the automatic berths for the knockout stages. Juve will host Benfica, who beat Napoli 2-0 tonight, and concluded their league phase at AS Monaco.
This latest victory was just like their last-gasp triumph in Norway, when Juve were second best in the first half but following what was surely a stern and inspiring team talk from Spalletti turned on the style for the second half against Bodo/Glimt.
A full-on 90 minutes from Juventus, suffice for the Coppa Italia win over understrength Udinese, is such a rarity under Spalletti that he needs to prove his worth when the Bianconeri tackle Bologna on Saturday and then host AS Roma seeking precious Serie A points.
