Toward the end of the summer transfer window, Juventus parted ways with Federico Chiesa as the Serie A side looked to move away from the player. Liverpool signed Chiesa from Juventus for £12.5 million, and one expert believes it was time to part ways.

Sky Sports reported that the fee for the winger is £10 million upfront, plus £2.5 million in add-ons, which depend on Liverpool winning the Premier League and UEFA Champions League.

The 26-year-old also signed a four-year deal at Anfield, earning the same wages as he did at Juventus, per Sky Sports.

"I'm so happy to be a Liverpool player," Chiesa told Liverpoolfc.com. "When Richard Hughes [Liverpool sporting director] called me and he said, 'Do you want to join Liverpool?' - and the coach called me - I said yes immediately because I know the history of this club, I know what it represents to the fans. So, I'm so happy and I can't wait to get started."

Was it time for Juventus to move on from Federico Chiesa?

Juventus are beginning a new project under new manager Thiago Motta, and with a fresh start comes moving on from players who don't fit the vision the coach wants to install.

Whether it's for this reason or another, one expert believes Juventus made the right decision selling Chiesa this past summer.

"Chiesa had had a series of negative attitudes; for example last year in some way he threw the blame on Allegri for his modest performance," Fabio Ravezzani, director of Telelombardia, said in an interview with Juventusnews24.com.

"Then we saw that even with Spalletti... In short, Chiesa is a very unpredictable player, he can get the big game right but then maybe he gets three wrong. For a big club this average is not good."
