With the January transfer window fast approaching, Juventus will be eager to address a major void in their backline. Gleison Bremer is set to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign after suffering a torn cruciate ligament, leaving the Bianconeri searching for reinforcements.

Speculation is already swirling as the club evaluates potential defensive targets to bolster their ranks when the window opens. Recently, the Serie A side have been linked to various center-backs such as Antonio Silva, Fikayo Tomori, Dávid Hancko, etc.

The question surrounding the Turin-based club will be if they are able to secure a center-back in the next few weeks. Nonetheless, the are two new names that have emerged in the rumor mill.

Could Juventus look at Barcelona defenders?

TuttoJuve reports that Juventus are exploring several options to strengthen their backline, including potential moves for Barcelona duo Ronald Araújo and Andreas Christensen.

Both players have been under consideration for loan deals until the end of the season. Araújo has recently returned from the Hamstring injury that he suffered over the summer at Copa América, and Christensen is expected to follow suit soon, making both intriguing options for the Bianconeri.

The Uruguayan is under contract until 2026, which means after this 2024-25 season, he'll have one year remaining on his deal. As a result, if there's no contract extension agreement between the two sides, Barcelona will have to begin fielding offers for a sale.

As for how much the 25-year-old could cost, Transfermarkt puts his transfer value at €55 million. It will be interesting to see if Juventus can secure a loan with an obligation to buy around the sum to secure Araújo.
