The head coach, who has come under pressure for back-to-back defeats, was adamant at the pre-match press conference and stated: “The last results have not been good and we are all working hard to improve them.
“We have the opportunity to play a great game and get the victory. I feel the club's confidence, we want to win against Empoli.”
Injuries have played a pivotal role in the Bianconeri’s season, with their Champions League campaign having slumped and the club not challenging for the Serie A title because of their 13 draws from 22 matches.
Following defeats against league leaders Napoli and Portuguese giants Benfica, Motta will surely be hoping that it’s third time lucky when Juve tackle Empoli.
Empoli have failed to score in their past 10 away games against Juventus, and Roberto D'Aversa’s side are on a seven-game winless run.
However, Sebastiano Esposito is currently the most prolific Serie A striker since the start of December. The 22-year-old, on loan from Inter Milan, has bagged six goals in his past eight matches so could prove a real danger.
Yet Motta will no doubt be focused on the other end of the pitch and specifically Georgian international Saba Goglichidze. The Empoli defender has been on Juventus’ radar for months and is a potential player to scoop up before the 3 February transfer deadline.
Motta added: “We are the first to not be happy with the results, and we are focused on the match to win. Sometimes we have played well but the result has not arrived.
“Empoli will give their all, and for our part we will do everything to win. Against Empoli we will need a great performance.”
Juventus have an impressive record with lunchtime kick-offs, unbeaten in their past 11 Serie A games starting at 12.30pm with seven victories, Wins are vital for Motta, otherwise the club could further pursue Xavi to take over in the summer.
