Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season after being forced off just six minutes into the club's 3-2 UEFA Champions League victory over RB Leipzig earlier this month.

With Bremer sidelined, speculation about how Juventus will fill the gap has begun. According to Calciomercato, the club could look to bring in a familiar face this January—one that manager Thiago Motta knows well.

The report suggests that Dutch center-back Sam Beukema, whom Motta praised during their time at Bologna last season, has emerged as a leading target for Juventus. Beukema is now high on the list that was recently presented to sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.

Juventus' interest in Milan Skriniar hits a hurdle

In recent days, Paris Saint-Germain's Milan Skriniar has been linked with a return to Serie A. However, one journalist believes that the Old Lady needs to overcome a major hurdle before an agreement for the veteran defender is reached.

"It's highly unlikely that Skriniar will move to Juventus in January," journalist Paolo Paganini noted (h/t Bianconera News). "The main hurdle is his wages—€10 million plus €2 million in bonuses, after taxes. Unless Paris Saint-Germain gets involved. Three alternatives are being considered: Jakub Kiwior, whom Thiago Motta knows well, as well as Jonathan Tah and Fikayo Tomori."

Recently, Paganini reported that Juventus has also set their sights on Fikayo Tomori from Milan as a reinforcement once the January window opens. It will be interesting to see if a deal for a defender happens in a few months to ensure that the Italian side has the depth on defense to contend in the league.
