Juventus could be in the market for a new striker in the summer 2021 transfer market. Their preference should be to keep Alvaro Morata, but that may not be possible. Morata is currently signed on loan from Atletico Madrid. Buying him permanently would be too expensive, and even signing him on an extended loan for 2021-2022 would cost the Bianconeri 10 million euros if the price cannot be reduced.
So Juve have to keep alternatives in mind. The problem is there are not many alternatives who have the upside, quality, and cost-effectiveness that Juve are looking for. Since the economic crisis has hit the Old Lady hard, Fabio Paratici and Co. must be extra cautious.
Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic has turned in some impressive performances this year and is already one of Serie A’s best at the age of 21. He has 21 goals and 3 assists this season as Fiorentina’s clear star player.
Juventus have been linked to Vlahovic, but it appears unrealistic for the Bianconeri to sign this latest rising superstar from Firenze.
Juventus can’t afford to buy Dusan Vlahovic for 60 million euros
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, Fiorentina would now like 60 million euros in exchange for Dusan Vlahovic.
That’s money Juve do not have to spend.
They already made one excellent, expensive signing from Fiorentina last summer in winger Federico Chiesa, who is a true building block in Turin. Vlahovic may be of similar quality, but spending that kind of money in back-to-back summers is not in the cards.
Juve already have two high-priced forwards in Paulo Dybala and Cristiano Ronaldo. There’s a chance both could leave, but it’s still more likely the Bianconeri will be able to keep ahold of their superstars. And that makes a Vlahovic move all the more out of reach for Juve.
We’ll see if there are any further updates regarding Vlahovic, but Fiorentina are wisely setting a hard bargain. They know other big clubs will be interested, perhaps even those with more financial resources than Juve.
