Juventus sold Federico Chiesa to Liverpool during the summer transfer window for an initial £10 million, with an additional £2.5 million in add-ons tied to the Reds winning the Premier League and Champions League.
The 26-year-old signed a four-year deal at Anfield, reportedly maintaining the same salary he had at Juventus. Having spent his entire senior career in Italy, the transfer marks a significant shift for Chiesa.
So far this season, Chiesa has struggled for game time at Liverpool, featuring for just 78 minutes across three appearances, during which he registered one assist. With limited opportunities, Liverpool might explore a loan move to help him regain form, or they could see it as a missed opportunity to integrate him into their plans.
Last month, Calciomercato reported that AC Milan, Roma, and Inter Milan are potential destinations if Liverpool decides to loan him out.
More confirmation on Serie A clubs keen on Chiesa
TuttoSport reports that Inter, AC Milan, and AS Roma are keen on signing Federico Chiesa this January and are exploring the possibility of a 6-month loan deal.
Earlier this month, former Italian footballer Antonio Cassano weighed in on Chiesa's situation.
"What the hell is happening to Chiesa? He’s still not called up by Italy," Cassano said on the program "Viva el Futbol."
"I thought he was going to Liverpool and play, but he never even plays 10 minutes. I wonder: Is he physically unwell? Has he not settled in? For me, he’s the best, something needs to be understood from a national team perspective. It’s surprising that months have passed. It’s a shame."
Cassano emphasized the importance of Chiesa’s return to form for Italy’s future. However, reaching a competitive level again heavily depends on his situation at the club, where he appears to be stuck in a challenging limbo that’s hard to overcome without consistent playing time and continuity.
