Jonathan David seeks wage boost with Manchester United, Juventus linked
By Eduardo Razo
Juventus are reportedly looking for a new No. 9 next summer, with LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David emerging as one of their primary targets. However, securing David will be an expensive pursuit as the player's financial demands are emerging.
Corriere dello Sport reports that Juventus are prepared to offer David a five-year contract worth at least €5 million annually, along with a €7 million commission for his agent.
The same outlet reveals that Manchester United have now joined the race for David, with Liverpool and Arsenal also showing strong interest.
Meanwhile, TuttoJuve notes that FC Barcelona could complicate Juventus’ plans. The Spanish club might offer David a higher salary and signing bonus in June, playing on the striker’s long-time admiration for Barcelona.
Barcelona still have Robert Lewandowski, but with the Polish forward nearing the end of his career, they’re looking for a long-term successor.
Another source reveals Jonathan David's wage demands
Transfer expert Nicolò Schira reports that David has decided not to extend his contract with Lille and plans to leave the Ligue 1 club as a free agent at the end of the season.
The Canadian forward is seeking a five-year contract with an annual salary of €6 million and a signing bonus of €10 million. At LOSC, he currently earns €2 million per year.
David is on an impressive scoring stretch this 2024-25 season, scoring 13 goals and recording two assists in 19 appearances across all competitions for the French side.
Lille are set to lose David on a free transfer in June unless they decide to sell him in the winter window, considering the Canadian can begin talks over a pre-contract with any club.
