Juventus appears to be eyeing a new No. 9 next summer, with Jonathan David from LOSC Lille reportedly on their radar. However, one journalist suggests that the Italian side needs to watch out for two clubs if they hope to secure the Canadian.
Transfer expert Matteo Moretto stated that the 24-year-old has chosen not to extend his contract with Lille. In his column for Caught Offside this month, he highlighted that Inter Milan are making significant progress in their pursuit of David, but the competition remains intense.
Since joining Lille in 2020, David has found the net 95 times in 199 appearances across all competitions. Recently, Arsenal, Juventus, Tottenham, and Newcastle United have all been mentioned as potential suitors for his signature.
Two clubs that are threatening Juventus in the Jonathan David race
If Juventus want to secure the talented striker, TUTTOmercatoWEB reports (h/t Bianconera News) that two clubs present a significant threat to the Serie A club in winning the race for the Lille star.
"In the meantime, there is the usual significant interest in Jonathan David," the outlet noted. "The Lille striker will become a free agent at the end of the season, which is why he is highly sought after.
"Inter and Juventus are closely following the situation in anticipation of next year. Barcelona are also ready to act to have another option up front alongside [Robert] Lewandowski. Tottenham should not be underestimated either. In short, the situation is evolving."
The Lille standout can start signing a pre-contract with any club in January, making the next few months crucial for determining which team is best positioned to secure his services.
