Potential future Juventus stars are being tracked in all positions, except between the sticks as the club seems happy with their trio of shotstoppers.

The Bianconeri have loaned out a plethora of players, many likely to never sport a Juve jersey again.

There are five Juventus loanees, whose contracts expire in less than 18 months, who could become a pivotal player for the 2025/26 Serie A campaign although seem more probable to be offloaded.

The Turin titans will be aiming to ship off these players to bring in extra coffers for a big summer spend.

Tiago Djalo (defender, on loan at FC Porto)

Juventus beat Inter Milan to land Djalo from French club LOSC Lille for €3.6 million (US$3.75m) in January 2024, but he has since proved to be an unpopular signing.

The Portuguese center-back fell down the pecking order under ex-head coach Massimiliano Allegri. After just one appearance he came perilously close to moving to AS Roma in August. Djalo now seems surplus to Motta’s requirements and strict defensive set-up

Despite concerns that Djalo is being underutilised at FC Porto, Premier League club Crystal Palace showed considerable interest during the recent winter transfer window. Juve will want Djalo playing regularly to maintain his value if they sell him in the summer, a year before his deal expires.

Although there’s a clause in his contract for a possible two-year extension with Juventus, he doesn’t seem to feature in the club’s short- or long-term plans.

Filip Kostic (midfielder, on loan at Fenerbahce)

Juve secured Kostic’s signature on a four-year deal until June 2026, costing €12m (US$12.6m) from Eintracht Frankfurt.

Kostic, who scored 33 goals in 172 for Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt, has failed to emulate his German Bundesliga form with the Turin giants. The 32-year-old Serbian international can be utilised on the left as a midfielder, wing-back or winger.

Despite his versatility he has only found the net once under head coach Jose Mourinho, which means that the Turkish Super Liga club appear unlikely to activate the €6m (US$6.3m) purchase clause in his contract.

Luca Pellegrini (defender, on loan at Lazio)

The Italian left-back initially joined Juve from AS Roma for €22m (US$23.1m) in 2019 but was loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt as part of the deal involving Filip Kostic’s arrival in Turin.

Pellegrini has not played for the Bianconeri for years, and joined Lazio on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy in January 2023.

However, Lazio head coach Marco Baroni omitted Pellegrini from his Serie A and UEFA squads released during the winter. This action appears solely to scupper their obligation to buy, because then certain conditions are not being met in the long-lasting loan deal.

Pellegrini was ready to be shipped out to Besiktas in the Turkish top flight, where he would have teamed up with former Juve ace Ciro Immobile. The deal broke down because the 25-year-old is owned by Juventus and there was too much red tape.

Nicolo Rovella (midfielder, on loan at Lazio)

The defensive midfielder was tied down to the Bianconeri in January 2021, following impressive Serie A displays with Genoa.

He spent a further 18 months on loan at Genoa, followed by a loan stint with Monza before joining top four rival Lazio in August 2023 on a two-year loan deal with an obligation to buy.

The Biancocelesti would have to fork €17m (US$17.9m) to keep the Italian international, who has only turned out three times for Juventus.

Daniele Rugani (defender, on loan with Ajax)

The center-back joined Juventus in 2012 on loan from Empoli, and was purchased the following year for just €500,000 (US$526,000).

Rugani was not involved in Juventus' pre-season games and clearly not part of Motta’s plans. The Italian was dispatched on a one-year loan to Ajax until June.

He won 11 trophies at Juventus, but was constantly sent out on loan to only clock up 148 appearances for the Turin titans.

The 30-year-old’s contract was extended until 2026, but only to spread his salary, and the former Italy international was recently handed a six-month suspended prison sentence after being caught driving under the influence two years ago in Turin.
