Forward planning needed for Juve strikeforce

Arkadiusz Milik, Dusan Vlahovic and Kenan Yildiz could all be moved on by Juventus during the summer.

Poland international Arkadiusz Milik, ruled out since June following a knee injury and subsequent surgery, suffered a calf injury at the turn of the year.

Although he is back in training in his native country, there’s been no update about when he could next sport a Juve jersey. Milik could become surplus to requirements under head coach Thiago Motta, and be up for grabs during the next transfer window.

The 30-year-old joined the Bianconeri in August 2023. He initially arrived on a one-year loan deal, with the option to buy, from Ligue 1 outfit Olympique de Marseille.

Juventus made Milik’s deal permanent for €6.3 million (US$6.6m) following the end of the 2022/23 season, having bagged nine goals in 39 outings that included finding the back of the net twice in the Champions League.

The next campaign he scored four goals in seven Serie A starts, and seems to have disappeared off the Juve’s radar. There’s been no mention from the Turin giants about his fitness or future.

Top scorer back in business

Vlahovic was unleashed by Motta with great effect for his first Serie A game of 2025, and banging in the winner over Cagliari.

He suddenly fell down the pecking order since the arrival of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kolo Muani. The Serbia forward was being monitored by a number of Premier League clubs, but there were no bids from the English top tier due to his salary demands and a high price tag.

Vlahovic’s value to Juventus tumbled by a staggering €20m (US$21m) over his six-week exodus by Motta. The manager had a change of heart, although he may have been coerced by the board into recalling the 25-year-old to prevent a further dip in Vlahovic’s valuation.

If he gets games then he’ll get goals, with or without service, and has been on target 14 times this campaign to be Juve’s top scorer. The club are expected to attempt to cash in on Vlahovic, as his contract ends in less than 18 months.

Raw talent needs refining

Yildiz is viewed as his future successor, although the Turkish teenager is currently being touted by super agent Jorges Mendes as the next soccer superstar and a wanted man by elite European clubs.

He has scored four Serie A this term, which means the €80m (US$84m) tag being suggested that Premier League giants will happily pay appears to be rather overinflated.

Mendes is no doubt busy behind the scenes as there’s been a sudden surge of rumours swirling around about the 19-year-old ever since the Portuguese agent was spotted in a restaurant with Yildiz’s parents.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are among the names that have appeared in the media that are keen to sign Yildiz.

He seems too raw at the moment for such a megabucks move, and is not yet the polished article, with Motta utilising him in a supporting striker role to help let him learn his trade.

Trio could make summer exit

Milik appears to be the most likely forward to leave in the summer, with plenty of replacements being considered.

Vlahovic is reportedly the highest paid player in Serie A on an annual salary of €12m (US$12.6m), so that’s a potential obstacle for any Premier League suitors. Turkish Super Lig giants Fenerbahce and Saudi Pro club Al-Nassr were prepared to pay that last month, although Vlahovic wasn’t tempted.

Realistically Yildiz needs to be much more explosive until the end of the season if he is to warrant such an enormous amount to be splashed out.
