With netting a Champions League berth next term in the balance, with five Serie A games remaining to score a top four finish, the Turin titans are looking at alternatives to big name strikers.

Without competing in Europe’s top club competition next season the purse strings will be tightened, and a move to Juve won’t be that much of a draw for the likes of attackers like Manchester United duoAntony and Alejandro Garnacho.

Lucca, who stands a staggering two meters to be an obvious aerial threat, has added 10 Serie A goals to the 18 scored over the past two seasons in the Italian top tier since joining Udinese from Dutch giants Ajax.

History maker

He kicked off his career at Palermo in January 2020, and 18 months later was sold to Pisa. Shipped out on a season-long loan at Ajax for the 2022/23 Eredivisie, he become the club's first-ever Italian goalscorer.

Lucca was promptly shipped out on loan to Udinese, and following his successful stint they paid €12 million (US$12.7m) for his services last July on a four-year deal.

Born in the Turin region, Lucca has been on the radar of Liverpool, Manchester United, Nottingham Forest and West Ham United since the winter transfer window.

AC Milan, Juventus and Napoli are monitoring his situation at mid-table Udinese for the €25m (US$28.5m) ace. This price tag could be negotiable, and Juve made initial contacts with the player's agent in mid-January.

Capped three times by Italy, Lucca has a natural prowess for scoring and impressive link-up skills, especially through swift attacks down the flanks. He is viewed as potential Plan B by Juventus as part of their summer revamp.
