Recent Form
Following five consecutive Serie A wins, humiliating losses to Atalanta and Fiorentina saw Thiago Motta giving his marching orders after a disappointing nine months at the helm.
Former Juventus defender and assistant coach Igor Tudor will take the reins for the final run-in. With no distractions of cup competitions, he will be seeking to pick up precious points as the club aims for a top four finish.
Genoa sit mid-table and are in sparkling form under head coach Patrick Viera, having lost just one of their past six games. They beat Lecce 2-1 before the international break, but have yet to win against any of the big teams this term. He understandably fears the new manager bounce for the tussle in Turin.
Head-to-head
Juventus' unbeaten Serie A run at home to Genoa spans a staggering 34 years, with an impressive record of five draws and 15 victories.
Genoa have tasted the most Italian top-flight defeats by Juve, suffering a whopping 68 reversals.
September's meeting saw the Bianconeri breeze to a 3-0 triumph insider the Stadio Luigi Ferraris courtesy of a Dusan Vlahovic double and and Francisco Conceicao's first goal since arriving on loan from Porto FC in the summer.
Team News
Tudor has named Manuel Locatelli as his first-choice captain. Serbia striker Vlahovic, fresh from scoring against Austria in the Nations League, is admired by the new Juve boss so can expect to make a rarer start this year.
Andrea Cambiaso and Douglas Luiz remain big doubts following recent knocks. Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal are long-term absentees, while forward Arkadiusz Milik could be in the squad having been on the bench in Motta's last match.
Genoa will miss Mario Balotelli, who has a broken hand. I Rossoblu's injury list also includes key players Honest Ahanor, Mattia Bani, Maxwel Cornet and Junior Messias. Left-back Aaron Martin is serving a suspension.
Players to watch
Juventus - Dusan Vlahovic
All eyes will be on Juve's top scorer Vlahovic, who dramatically fell out of favour under Thiago Motta. He remains on the radar of top Premier League clubs, with scouts expected inside the Allianz Stadium.
Started just once in Serie A since the arrival of Paris Saint-Germain outcast Kolo Muani in January, and scored the only goal in the success over Cagliari. As Tudor is a huge fan of Vlahovic, then he should be given the chance to add to his tally of 55 goals since arriving from Fiorentina three years ago.
Genoa - Fabio Miretti
The Juventus loanee will return to familiar turf on Saturday, high on confidence after bagging a brace to score a Serie A success over Lecce.
The 21-year-old central midfielder has become a pivotal player under Vieira. Played 23 league games, scoring three times and made three goal assists.
Expected line-ups
Juventus possible starting XI:
Di Gregorio, Gatti, Kalulu, Veiga; Weah, Locatelli, Thuram, Cambiaso; Yildiz, Gonzalez; Vlahovic
Genoa possible starting XI:
Leali; Sabelli, De Winter, Vasquez, Matturro; Badelj, Frendrup; Zanoli, Malinovskyi, Miretti; Pinamonti
Old Juve prediction
Juventus 2 Genoa 0
Tudor is back in the Juventus dugout, with his unique attacking brand of play expected to reap rich rewards.
Genoa have yet to snatch maximum points on the road in 2025, but have scored three draws and are a tricky team to beat. Viera is right to be cautious about “fresh energy” from the Turin titans for this clash.
