Serie A’s top earner, who has long been on the radar of a plethora of Premier League clubs, was rumoured to be involved in a swap at either Manchester United or Newcastle United this summer.
Vlahovic, who has yet to score in the four games since Igor Tudor took over as interim manager and suffered a thigh injury in the shock 1-0 defeat at Parma, turned down Arsenal to join the Bianconeri in 2022 yet remains on their radar.
Juve's top scorer this term has other long-term admirers in England including Aston Villa, Chelsea, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
Manchester United’s acquisition of former Atalanta hot-shot Rasmus Hojlund has flopped, with the Danish international only banging in three Premier League goals this term, and Juve has been touted as his next destination.
Hojlund had impressed in the Italian top tier before his €75 million (US$85m) signing by the Red Devils two years ago. Juve have been exploring an agreement for the 22-year-old to arrive, as part of a switch agreement with Serbia striker Vlahovic heading in the opposite direction to Old Trafford.
However, Hojlund’s former club are contemplating a swap deal involving Juventus target Ademola Lookman. The British-born Nigeria star has previously competed in the Premier League, but he struggled to make much impact at Everton, Fulham and Leicester City.
Lookman rift with manager
Lookman was branded by Atalanta head coach Gian Piero Gasperini as one of the “worst penalty takers” he had ever seen earlier this year. This public criticism followed after his tame spot-kick during their Champions League play-off defeat to Belgium outfit Club Brugge.
There remains a rift between the prolific forward and Gasperini, with the 27-year-old keen to move this summer. Juventus and Scudetto hopefuls Napoli are the only Italian sides showing interest in Lookman.
Yet Arsenal, Aston Villa, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle are serious suitors to secure Lookman’s signature. He will no doubt be seeking a club that offers the Champions League stage next term, which means Juve could slip up in their attempts to sign him.
There’s also the possibility that Gasperini takes over the Juventus reins in the summer, which would scupper any potential deal for Lookman.
Vlahovic has also been monitored by Newcastle, as part of a partial swap deal involving Italy international Sandro Tonali. With the Magpies soaring, the club will not wish to lose any of their aces, and instead are aiming to bolster their squad.
Delap preferred over Vlahovic
Manchester City reject Liam Delap, who has been scoring for fun upfront for lowly Premier League outfit Ipswich Town, is on the radar of both Manchester United and Newcastle.
The 22-year-old has proven himself in the English top flight, so is preferred by the two teams over bringing in Vlahovic. He would cost considerably less, with a €35m (US$39.7m) release clause triggered when it is confirmed that Ipswich are relegated.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has personally spoken with Delap, who will decide his future before the European U21 Championship kicks off in mid-June., which effectively shuts the door on Vlahovic moving to the cash-rich club.
Vlahovic, whose Juve contract expires in June 2026, is reportedly refusing to enter talks with the Turin titans about extending his deal as the salary would be reduced from his current annual deal of €12m (US$13.6m).
The Bianconeri are looking to cash in on one of their prized assets before he becomes a free agent, although Vlahovic may be relunctant to leave having turned down winter transfer moves to the Saudi Pro League and the Turkish Supa Lig.
